The European Tour group is one of the world’s pre-eminent golf organisations. We are responsible for running the world-famous DP World Tour, Legends Tour, Challenge Tour and G4D Tour (golf for the disabled). We also organise, alongside the PGA of America, golf’s greatest team contest - the Ryder Cup.
Role Summary
We are currently seeking a dynamic multimedia professional to join the European Tour group’s communications team, focusing on the editorial and event coverage of the Challenge Tour. The successful candidate will travel to Challenge Tour tournament sites worldwide to produce engaging social media content, written website reports, and features during event weeks, and manage any external media requests. They will also provide coverage support when not attending tournaments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Produce innovative and engaging digital content and written editorial for all Challenge Tour platforms, including europeantour.com, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
2. Distribute content to the Tour’s global network of media contacts.
3. Work closely with European Tour Productions to identify relevant stories and content ideas.
4. Liaise with the production team to see ideas through from concept to publication.
5. Help execute media strategies for the Challenge Tour, working closely with key Tour staff, sponsors, and promoters.
6. Manage media attendance at Challenge Tour events and assist with media enquiries.
7. Conduct player interviews and organise media conferences as necessary.
8. Offer media advice to players and assist in the promotion of tournaments.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will be a strong writer with a background in journalism and content creation, holding a degree in Journalism or equivalent. They will have excellent knowledge and experience of social media, including X, Facebook, and Instagram, and good knowledge of Adobe Suite or similar publishing software. Knowledge and experience of running and growing a YouTube channel would also be preferred. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and a good knowledge of the game of golf are desirable. A creative approach is essential.
On a personal level, the role holder must have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, be comfortable working in a small team, and be willing to roll up their sleeves. They should be curious and collaborative, flexible, adaptable, and prepared to step outside of core responsibilities if required. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels are essential, along with a commitment to continuous improvement, professionalism, empathy, and integrity.
