A specialist role within the Electronic Patient Record Project Team with a significant impact on developing digital solutions for local practice and improving information services for NHS staff from a variety of disciplines. The emphasis is on delivering safer, more effective health care for patients whilst ensuring managers are supported with relevant information to contribute to strategic service efficiencies and work force development.
Working under the overall direction of the EPR Clinical Lead, post holders will be expected to work autonomously on a day-to-day basis to manage their workload, and the ability to work flexibly to support project roll outs across the Trust is essential.
Post holders will synchronise their understanding of NHS processes and priorities and clinical requirements with technological developments. They will use this knowledge to translate to recognisable benefits for the OUH, providing advice and support to achieve sustainable change, which improves the patient experience and delivers best quality healthcare.
Main duties of the job
* Develop, maintain and share expert knowledge of a specialist functional area within Cerner Millennium Application Suite.
* Understanding the standard Cerner Millennium and OUHFT (Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) workflows.
* Gathering, documenting, analysing, and interpreting abstract information and how this can be utilised across the Trust in multiple clinical settings.
* Communicate effectively with key clinical and technical teams, using common understanding of language to achieve shared outcomes.
* Work collaboratively to agree and identify processes, workflows, and outcomes in accordance with the Trust Digital Priority plan.
* Contribution to both local and national workflows and system development as per NHS standards and requirements along with gold standards from evidence-based research.
* Support for adoption of new processes, through the lifecycle of the change management process and support of Benefits Realisation.
There is an expectation for autonomous flexible working utilising the necessary resources and skills available using standard project and line management processes.
Person specification
Knowledge & Skills
* In depth knowledge of clinical workflows and processes
* Understanding of NHS processes/procedures with specialist knowledge in at least one NHS area
* Knowledge of the NHS structure, organisations and management
* Good knowledge and understanding of Electronic Patient records and potential benefits
* Excellent knowledge and understanding of Cerner Millennium
* Decision making skills with ability to work autonomously without direct supervision
* Excellent attention to detail eg in preparing and reviewing complex spreadsheets accurately
* Highly developed interpersonal & communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
* Project management (working to Prince 2 methodology)
Educational Background
* Current professional registration to practice held with appropriate national body (e.g. NMC, HCPC, GMC)
* First Degree or equivalent further/higher education
* Evidence of post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience related to change management and workforce redesign
