We’re responsible for over half the ground source heat pumps installed in the UK. Our networked heat pumps are the cheapest, cleanest way to heat and cool millions of homes and businesses, and even entire towns. By 2040, up to 8,000 homes a week could be connecting to these heat networks, eliminating 17Mt of CO2 a year, equivalent to that of over half of all UK flights. About The Role
The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations while fostering a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
The role is varied and offers an opportunity to work on risk management in different environments daily. This ranges from construction operations, building heat networks to high rise buildings, manufacturing heat pumps in our factory in Truro, to monitoring the risks associated with all the support activities required in a business of our size and complexity.
You will report to the Director of SHEQ and manage a small team of support staff who are engaged on SHEQ systems and site-wide compliance.
What You Will Be Doing
1. Develop and implement HSE policies in line with industry regulations and best practices.
2. Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on all HSE matters.
3. Lead risk assessments, audits, and site inspections to identify hazards and drive compliance.
4. Ensure ISO certifications are maintained.
5. Conduct incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
6. Deliver HSE training programmes and promote a proactive safety culture.
7. Engage with regulatory bodies and ensure adherence to legislation, including CDM and the Building Safety Act.
8. Monitor and report on key HSE performance indicators.
9. Support sustainability initiatives to reduce our environmental footprint.
What You Will Bring
1. Demonstratable experience in an HSE role within construction or manufacturing.
2. Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, risk management, and compliance standards.
3. Proven experience in developing and delivering HSE training.
4. IOSH membership (working toward Chartered status preferred).
5. Experience with ISO management systems (45001, 14001).
6. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
7. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and HSE innovation.
