We are looking for an Operations Leader to join our Workshop Team based in Coventry.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Operations Leader to set up and eventually manage a new facility, in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You’ll be supporting the design setup of the facility, implementing processes, and leading a facility team, including apprentices, technicians, and Manufacturing Engineers in an R&D facility.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the facility operates to the appropriate processes and behaviours in order that performance for Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery meet or exceed agreed targets.
Main Responsibilities
1. Ensuring compliance of all appropriate processes and acting as a role model for desirable behaviour.
2. Accountability for the facilities team’s health and safety.
3. Managing the team’s absence and behaviours to ensure that they meet the expectations of the MTC. Where appropriate this will include performance management.
4. Inspiring a culture of continuous improvement and striving to empower your team members to take action to resolve issues independently.
5. Being empowered to stop work and tasks, should the behaviour or process be inappropriate or unsafe.
6. Overall day-to-day management of the facilities schedule and its performance against commitments for schedule and cost whilst ensuring that quality and safety requirements are maintained.
7. Influencing the strategic capability requirements for the future development of the facilities machines and people.
Who we’re looking for:
This position will suit an experienced Operations Leader, who has previously set up a new manufacturing facility, or somebody who has managed the process of implementing new machines and is now looking for the opportunity to progress and lead on a new facility setup.
You will also have:
1. Significant and proven experience and technical expertise in a manufacturing discipline.
2. Experience in managing teams to achieve business objectives.
3. An understanding (and experience of implementing and executing) of Lean manufacturing principles within an operational facility.
4. Ability to translate customer requirements into a deployed capability installation.
5. A high level of technical and quality process knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems.
6. Good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a range of people, including clients, contractors, designers, directors, and plant operators.
7. Precise and concise written communication skills.
8. The ability to lead a team through ambiguous or challenging situations.
9. The ability to work under pressure.
10. Project management skills such as stakeholder management, organisation, planning, requirement capture, etc.
