An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Waste Management Delivery Service, as such Leicestershire County Council is looking to recruit an Assistant Waste Site Supervisor to support in the operation of the Council’s WTS and RHWS.
Candidates must be self-motivated, hard-working, willing to learn and have good customer care skills
About the Role
Please note the position is working full time (5 days per week which will include working weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays on an agreed rota. Bank Holidays that fall within working patterns could be mandatory but paid as double time).
This position will be based at any of these four sites: Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste Site (RHWS) and Waste Transfer Station (WTS), Market Harborough RHWS, Lutterworth RHWS and Barwell RHWS.
You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
* Supervise and take a lead role on site to ensure site operates in accordance with Health and Safety and Environmental permit requirements – monitor and report on environmental impacts linked to site activities
* Oversee practical aspects of new starter inductions and support in delivering classroom training to existing staff and new starters including
* Weekly / Monthly site inspections and checks including but not limited to
* Supervisor inspections weekly
* Quarterly Inspections
* Update ticket log with load information and deal with any queries on data / WTN paperwork from contactors / internal
* Ensure site provide high level customer service and operates in line with site rules and terms of conditions of use including dealing with complaints and customer queries on site.
* Monitor stock levels for consumables.
* To support and assist the Managers, Supervisors and operational staff in delivering services at all Leicestershire’s RHWS and WTS.
The role requires a proactive, flexible, ‘can do’ attitude. Effective time-management and problem-solving skills are key attributes.
Essential Requirements:
* WAMITAB CoTC Level 4 or above (or willing to work towards as necessary)
* Level 3 award in First Aid at Work, First Response or equivalent (or willing to work towards as necessary)
* A full, Clean & Valid UK Driving Licence and insurance for business use.
* A knowledge of Waste Site operations.
About You
To apply for this post, you must:
* Act as a Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC) holder for the RHWS & WTS and provide CoTC cover at sites as directed.
* To assist Supervisors to ensure compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management systems, permits or licences at RHWS and WTS.
* As required, conduct documented RHWS and WTS inspections for Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality and Security issues at RHWS & WTS.
* From time to time, cover site recycling operatives and charging operatives when required this will include assisting with the recycling and disposal of waste materials on site; this could be at any RHWS or WTS.
* To provide cover at any RHWS or Waste Transfer Station, as directed, for operational purposes.
* To assist with supervisory responsibilities, including undertaking; general initial discussions, Training, Daily staff work allocation and monitoring adherence to site rules, policies and procedures.
* Arrange for all work to be undertaken in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and to ensure as far as possible that the safety of yourself, all site operatives and site users including the public is maintained.
