Undertake telephone triage for chemotherapy patients and their carers, to ensure that potential treatment toxicities are treated appropriately and swiftly. Refer to support services as required e.g. palliative care, primary care, social services, Occupational therapy, Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Oncology Counsellor, orthotics department. Ensure that the patient is rebooked for treatment and medical review at the appropriate time interval, and any pre-investigation forms are given to the patient. Documentation of patient attendance in patient notes. To communicate and work with all members of the MDT to provide good care and symptom management Ensure that practice adheres to local and national policies and guidelines to minimise the risk associated with cytotoxic drugs.
