Job Summary
The Dorset endoscopy academy fellowship has been designed to enable trainees to develop their medical, gastroenterology and endoscopy skills further while also supporting those in gastroenterology training posts to access immersion endoscopy training opportunities. This role will enable the two successful candidates to access opportunities across all 4 hospitals in Dorset.
Main duties of the job
* Inpatient general and medical work to free up local SPRs to attend endoscopy training
* Attend training endoscopy lists that are suitable to the appointed candidate, this may be basic diagnostic or complex therapeutics
* Supervised outpatient clinics
* Support JAG training courses
* Endoscopy audit and QIP project

Fitness To Practise Essential
* Is up to date and fit to practise safely
Health Essential
* Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice)
Qualifications Essential
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* MRCP (UK) full diploma or equivalent
Desirable
* Intercalated BSc or equivalent
* Higher degrees including MSc, PhD or MD (where research thesis not part of first medical degree)
Eligibility Essential
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practice.
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated Foundation Programme or equivalent by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice including: Good clinical care, Maintaining good medical practice, Good relationships and communication with patients, Good working relationships with colleagues, Good teaching and training, Professional behaviour and probity, Delivery of good acute clinical care.
* Evidence of achievement of CT/ST1 competences in medicine at time of application & CT/ST2 competences in medicine.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* ST3 or above experience in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
Language Skills Essential
* All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues demonstrated by one of the following: that applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or have achieved the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in a single sitting within 24 months at time of application - Overall 7, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7.
Career Progression Essential
* Ability to provide complete details of employment history

* Demonstrate current ALS certification or equivalent

* JAG certification in Gastroscopy
Academic skills Essential
* Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues
* Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence based practice, patient safety and clinical improvement initiatives
