Job Title: Design Engineer Reports to: Chief Designer Primary Relationships: Chief Designer, Head of Aerodynamics, Department Heads, Design Engineers, Aerodynamicists, PLM Manager, Structures, Production. Key Relationships: Design Groups, Project Managers, Department Heads. Purpose To be a key and effective part of the team of design engineers responsible for the scheme, design, testing and development stages of varied mechanical and composite components. To be responsible and accountable for creating, implementing, developing and successful completion of project concepts. Primary Responsibilities To provide design schemes from concept stage to project completion for mechanical, composite components, packaging existing components and surfacing. To provide clear designs from those schemes for jigs, fixtures, laminate specification booklets and tooling. To provide detail and assembly drawings facilitating the manufacture of components from these designs. Work closely with structures to ensure the products integrity, safety, and optimum structural efficiency. To proactively participate in developing, testing, implementing, and improving design concepts until the best version is achieved. To successfully manage issue resolution throughout projects by providing practical solutions arising from, manufacturing, tests, development, and final use. Generation of concepts and ideas to improve the products, and productivity. To attend and proactively participate in meetings as required. Responsible for ensuring any relevant regulatory compliance is achieved. Responsible for ensuring accurate mass tracking. To maintain and develop skill levels to industry standard and maintain thorough and current working knowledge of all engineering disciplines. Thoroughly researching new materials and processes. To assist with project planning and project tracking. To produce project progress reports to the highest quality. To embrace and promote the use of relevant business systems. Where appropriate, support patent applications. To work proactively, responsibly, and professionally at all times. Skills & Knowledge Required 2:1 or above degree level qualification in Automotive, Mechanical, Motorsport Engineering or similar Experience in F1 or top-level Motorsport or technology company in a similar role.
