Job Description:
The IPS Employment Specialist works with clients, health professionals, service providers, and employers to facilitate a person's journey into employment, improving social inclusion and wellbeing. You will manage a caseload of clients with mental health support needs, helping them secure sustainable paid employment aligned with their preferences. Training on the IPS approach will be provided; your role includes providing person-centred advice, guidance, and building relationships with local employers to support clients into suitable employment.
The Role
You will support individuals from vocational profiling through to in-work support, including outreach, action planning, job search, placement, and support withdrawal when appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of around 20 clients motivated to start or return to work.
* Deliver the IPS approach, with training provided.
* Support clients in understanding their skills, aspirations, and goals; assist with job search, CVs, applications, and interview techniques.
* Assess support needs related to work and provide guidance on benefits, welfare, and mental health disclosure.
* Attend weekly clinical team meetings as an embedded IPS practitioner.
* Source job opportunities through tailored searches and employer contacts.
* Support and educate employers, negotiate adjustments, and ensure job retention.
* Collaborate with clinical teams to generate referrals and promote employment as part of recovery.
* Provide ongoing support to clients and employers to sustain employment.
* Build relationships with local employers to find suitable job opportunities.
* Address inequalities and discrimination, promoting learning within the organization.
* Work with employers to reduce workplace barriers, including exploring 'job carving'.
Required Skills and Experience
* Experience working with people with mental health support needs or similar groups in health, social services, or voluntary sectors.
* Experience of one-to-one client support.
* Proven success in meeting and exceeding outcomes and targets.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Experience influencing decision-makers assertively.
* Support experience in helping people obtain or retain employment.
* Experience within mental health services.
* Previous experience delivering services using the IPS model.
