An exciting full-time opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Practitioner to work as part of our dedicated team within the Inpatient Forensic Team based at Langdon, in Dawlish.
The role is dynamic and challenging and we are looking for someone who is highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic who can demonstrate an eagerness for the ongoing development of the service.
You would be joining us at an exciting time as our service continues to develop.
We provide mental health services within the Devon Partnership Trust and as a directorate provide forensic mental health services for the south west region and have an excellent reputation. Our Directorate employs over 350 staff within 3 local delivery units (prison mental healthcare; inpatients and forensic community services).

Main duties of the job
You will be a Registered Mental Health professional such as a Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with appropriate qualifications and experience. Experience working within a Prison or Secure Services environment would be beneficial.
The successful applicant will have experience working with individuals with a range of mental health issues. They will have experience of working in complex systems and with partnership agencies. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, working closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues. They will have significant experience of managing risk and be able to confidently assess this.
Successful candidates will be well supported within the teams and encouraged to develop their clinical competencies within a stimulating learning environment. For newly qualified staff we have a well-established developmental programme which links into our wider multidisciplinary CPD programme. Those looking to gain further experience will be supported in maintaining professional links, through involvement in regular profession specific CPD opportunities.

Qualifications
* An appropriate up to date professional mental health qualification e.g. RMN, OT or social worker on the appropriate professional body register and hold current registration with no restrictions.
* Knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems.
* Training, knowledge in at least one therapeutic intervention (willingness to obtain qualifications in this area).
* Training and experience e.g., Manual Handling, First Aid, Food Handling, MHA. Administration of medications.
Experience
* Previous employment / experience of working with people e.g. in a caring situation, dealing with the general public.
* Previous care experience with individuals who have suffered Mental Health difficulties.
* Ability to generate ideas for activities.
* Interest in a wide range of people and personalities.
* Effective team worker proven team player.
* Life skills and mature outlook needed to work in a robust Health Care Environment.
* Able to supervise others and provide critical and constructive feedback.
