We are inviting applications for the role of Occupational Health Specialist based at our Kooragang Island manufacturing site in Newcastle, NSW.
As an Occupational Health Specialist,you will provide essential occupational health services and coordinate rehabilitation efforts, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The role will involve collaborating with our onsite and regional teams and other health professionals to contribute to optimal outcomes for our workers health and safety. You will apply your knowledge of risk management to workplace injury and illness prevention to support Orica’s commitment to promoting and protecting our people’s health and wellbeing and managing fitness for work.

What you will be doing
* Treating acute injuries and illnesses in the workplace;
* Coordinate periodic medicals for the site and support pre-employment medicals;
* Perform health assessment monitoring to company standards;
* Managing return-to-work programs in conjunction with other health care providers and line managers;
* Support workers' compensation and rehabilitation processes;
* Coordinate and support the site’s drug and alcohol testing program;
* Supporting health education, disease prevention strategies and wellbeing programs;
* Apply skills in occupational medicine, hygiene, ergonomics, toxicology, and safety;
* Manage the site medical centre and its associated facilities;
* Maintain health records in line with Orica's procedures and legislation.
What you will bring
* Certifications: Registered Nurse accredited with AHPRA;
* Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in nursing;
* Professional Experience: Relevant work experience in occupational health, including health monitoring, drug and alcohol testing and return-to-work program management;
* Skills: Ability to identify and reduce occupational health related workplace hazards, demonstrated ability to work with injured or ill workers, line managers and other health related professionals and good communication skills;
* Ongoing Learning: Keeping up with the latest occupational health legislation, standards, codes of practice and guidelines through continuous education and a passion for proactive pragmatic health initiatives in an occupational setting.
