This is an exciting opportunity to come an work for the MFT CAMHS directorate as a CAMHS Inpatient Advanced Occupational Therapist (Clinical Lead) within Galaxy House.
The Advanced OT willbe the clinical lead for a highly specialised occupational therapy service for patients within a specialist field. They will function asan autonomous practitioner with an advanced level of knowledge, skills and experience, to assess, diagnose and treat complex patients of their own case load of inpatients and/or outpatients/community patients in individual and group settings. The post holder will manage and provide clinical leadership for specialist qualified occupational therapists and assistants, and will supervise students. They willplan deliver and evaluate Continual Professional Development, clinical audit, research activities and in-service training within specialist area.
To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their professional and clinical work, working to agreed national and professional standards.
To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies using diagnostic and analytical skills in order to identify their problems and needs and ensure that patient’s medical, psychological, social environmental and cultural factors are taken into accountusing advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques: Identify the problem/diagnose
• Formulate individualised management and treatment plans in negotiation with the patient to devise and deliver a specialised evidence-based programme of care utilising a range of treatment options.
• Relate findings to presenting pathology
To be a source of clinical expertise within the team, trust wide and provide advice to other organisations as required
To give comprehensive information to seek patients understanding, cooperation, compliance and consent.
To use a diverse range of communication strategies to ensure effective communication with patients who may have difficulties e.g. cognitive impairment, mental health problems, autism, severe acute illness,high levels of resistancethat may create a barrier to communication.
