An exciting opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic individuals to join our Phlebotomy Team. We have a full time post (37.5 hours) and a part time post (20 hours) available.
You will have the ability to work flexibly in order to meet changing work demands of the service. You will be expected to work across two sites to cover the services at Barnsley Hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre at the Glass Works in Barnsley town centre. The hours will include evening and weekend working.
We are looking for a team player who is able to use their own initiative and cope well under pressure. You will be willing to undertake training and already possess a good understanding of confidentiality.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
Previous phlebotomy experience would be advantageous but not essential.
Main duties of the job
This role is to obtain blood samples from adult patients through venepuncture. They will assess, monitor and manage the venepuncture site to ensure trauma to the area is kept to a minimum.

Qualifications
* Willingness to work towards a competency-based Venepuncture Training Package. Recorded in a competency book.
* Willingness to undertake Customer care experience/training.
* Training provided in relation to waiting list management.
* Training provided in relation to receptionist duties.
* Training provided in relation to point of contact tests.

Experience

* Have undertaken and been deemed competent in the theory and practical training of venepuncture or be prepared to complete this training and assessment.
* Understand the need for confidentiality.
* Aware of Health and Safety requirements.
* Knowledge of Infection Control.
* First aid trained.
