About me
I am a father of three who lives with my two daughters and my son who has developmental delay and epilepsy, who I care for. We have a dog, two cats and two snakes who live in my daughter’s room. I’m looking for support to allow me a little bit of respite on occasion to enjoy a child-free night out to do “normal” things and be me for a few hours. I would like an honest Support Worker with integrity and a high level of care and attention to be a companion and responsible adult to my son. I would like to build a good relationship with my employee, whereby they won’t be concerned about contacting me with any issues as I would rather be contacted than my employee struggle. Please be aware we’re a non-smoking household.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To be a companion to my son and have eyes on him at all times
- To administer medication if and when required
- To support my son at dinner if required (I will endeavour to make sure this is - Some - To put my son to bed and monitor while asleep
- To support during seizure activity (if they occur)
- Seizures can often lead to bed wetting, so changing bedding if required

Summary terms and conditions
- Hours, days and times of work:
o Term time: 4 hours per week
o School holidays: 6 hours per week
o Although I’d prefer hours to be worked on Friday evenings or over the weekend, I’m very flexible on when the hours are worked and I’m happy to work with my employee to mutually agree what works.
o These hours are also flexible in terms of how they fall week to week, depending on myself and my employee’s situation.
- Pay rate: £13.00 per hour
- Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
- Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
- Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
- Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.
