We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced individual to provide strong leadership in the Inpatient Gynaecology Unit based at Arrowe Park Hospital. The Inpatient Gynaecology Unit incorporates the inpatient Gynaecology Ward, the Gynaecology Daycase Unit, the Gynaecology Assessment Unit, and the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit.
We are looking for a strong compassionate leader, who is innovative and passionate about delivering high standards of quality care to our patients, sometimes these can be during emotional and distressing events in their lives. You will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, possess excellent interpersonal skills, have fresh ideas and want to be part of an evolving gynaecology service.
Main duties of the job
Your main duties will include but not be limited to:
* Undertake patient care where appropriate acting as a clinical expert.
* Create a therapeutic environment meeting the needs of patients, relatives and carers.
* Promote a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of care and implement changes to improve systems.
* Respond to patient and carer complaints, assisting the Directorate to respond to them within agreed timespan, ensuring appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence.
* Participate in audits and implement change, encouraging others to become involved.
* Perform thorough staff appraisals to identify strengths and weaknesses, providing feedback and support to maximise their contribution and personal development.
* Maintain and monitor systems for ensuring staff compliance and mandatory training.
* Oversight of the unit budget and monitoring and control of expenditure and resource management.
* Maintain discipline and deal with staff problems in a supportive way, embracing all aspects of Human Resource policies and procedures.
* Continuously update own skills and knowledge and maintain awareness of clinical issues.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills, effective problem solving and leadership skills.
Essential for this post is a minimum of 5 years post registration experience and a minimum of 2 years leadership experience or equivalent. Experience in caring for patients with gynaecological conditions and problems is also highly desirable.
