About the role
Due to expanding numbers and popularity, we are seeking to recruit an outstanding Social Sciences teacher to join our thriving humanities faculty with the opportunity to teach primarily in Key Stage 5, with the possibility down the line of expanding to GCSE.
We are looking for an excellent teacher of Psychology and Sociology, the candidate would be expected to primarily teach both subjects at A Level. We are always looking to expand our offer at both GCSE and A Level and so the ability and enthusiasm to teach other subjects would be welcomed, this could include Law, Criminology, Religious Studies, etc. Currently both Psychology and Sociology follow the AQA specification.
The current Humanities faculty is made up of seven enthusiastic, strong teachers with a variety of specialisms and responsibilities. Additionally, the Humanities faculty has been growing and improving in recent years, with the average GCSE Progress score in humanities subjects last year being +0.57, compared with the school’s progress score of +0.17.
We are looking for a motivated, hard working individual who will support and challenge all students and will work effort fully and deliberately, to improve outcomes for all.

Who we are looking for
* A good degree in a specialist subject teaching qualification
* Nationally recognised teaching qualification (QTS)
* Good literacy, numeracy and general IT skills
* The skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to teach across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
* Understanding of the current curriculum issues in relation to teaching subjects
* Ability to effectively and appropriately use resources to enact the curriculum well
* Commitment to working co-operatively with young people; able to communicate effectively and sensitively in a manner that shows high positive regard
