Environmental Health Housing Officers (Levels 1, 2 and Senior) Permanent, Full Time and Part time roles up to 7 FTE posts.
Would you like to work in one of the largest Private Housing Services in England and help improve Bristol's private rented sector housing standards?
Bristol is a vibrant city, with nearly 30% of Bristol's population living in the private rented sector. The Private Housing Service is currently preparing to expand its licensing teams with new schemes just started, creating a fantastic opportunity to join one of our teams.
Your role will range from:
1. Advice and guidance to landlord tenants and agents.
2. Programmed inspection of licensed properties.
3. Investigation and resolution of service requests.
4. Compliance checks against schedules of works.
5. Enforcement ranging from informal to formal notices.
6. Investigation of offences and use of Civil Penalty and Prosecution powers.
Highlighted minimum qualifications required in conjunction with the required levels of experience you must demonstrate:
Level 1 (BG10: £33,024 - £36,648)
* A CIEH-accredited degree in Environmental Health (either 3-year BSc or 2-year MSc)
Level 2 (BG11: £37,336 - £39,186)
* As level 1 or
* a BCC recognised university short course* specifically aimed at technical & legal work in the private housing sector (or have a willingness to undertake this training within two years of appointment) OR
* Short course* AND relevant degree level qualification (Surveying, Housing, 2-year Public & Environmental Health Foundation degree, Law, etc.) OR
* Short course* AND Relevant BTEC HND or equivalent (Surveying, Housing, 2-year Public & Environmental Health Foundation degree, Law, etc.) AND
* The required level of experience relevant to your qualifications.
Senior (BG12: £40,221 to £43,421)
* As level 1 OR
* (A Bristol City Council recognised qualification in Environmental Health Housing on the technical and legal aspects of Environmental Health Housing (or BCC 'Surveyor A' course and assessment)) AND
* The required level of experience relevant to your qualifications.
In addition to property licensing, the Private Housing Service is responsible for the full range of private-sector housing issues including, empty-homes, public health related service requests, policy, technical support and High Rise Fire Safety. There may be opportunities in the future to work in these different areas.
