We are looking for a dedicated and experienced One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join a small, specialised setting in Leeds that supports students aged 7-18 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. In this role, you will work closely with a small group of students who have complex SEMH needs, along with other challenges such as Autism, ADHD, mild to moderate learning difficulties, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, and attachment difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated support and mentorship to an individual pupil or a small group of no more than six students.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons and activities.
- Monitor and report on pupils' progress and concerns, working collaboratively with other school staff to ensure all needs are met.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom times, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom setup.
- Set tasks when appropriate and assess completed work.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging engagement and promoting a positive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Strong educational background, ideally up to A-level, with at least a Grade C (or equivalent) in GCSE English Language and Mathematics, along with solid IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs in an educational setting.
- Proficient in behavior management and implementing effective techniques.
- Committed to continuous professional development and eager to grow.
