We’re Europe’s first fresh-cooked cat food, made with 100% human-grade meat, gently cooked and frozen to lock in freshness. As a disruptor in the $185bn pet food market, KatKin was founded to challenge the low standards set by the traditional cat food industry, which is worth $50bn globally and is this fastest growing segment in the pet care market. The concept for fresh food is well established in the US, particularly in Dog, with the Farmers’ Dog surpassing >$1B in sales proving the scale of the opportunity.
KatKin is vertically integrated across R&D, manufacturing, sales, and marketing. To date, we've delivered around 62 million fresh meals to over 270,000 happy, healthy cats across the UK. Our team of over 150 spans several locations, including London, USA, and our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Haverhill, Suffolk. We also have customer service teams in both London and South Africa.
KatKin operates a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model supported by a first-class, dedicated customer service team. In addition to our eCommerce channel, our Fresh food and Pantry products are also sold through a growing number of select third-party platforms, including Ocado, Amazon, and Pets at Home.

The Role
As a Senior Copywriter, you’ll have ownership of high-impact work and projects that are critical to driving acquisition, retention and brand love. You’ll be responsible for evolving and crafting our TOV to seamlessly engage and delight across all touchpoints.
Reporting to the Creative Director, you will work on briefs from every corner of the KatKin team, using your copywriting prowess and creativity to bring them to life. From the snappiest of taglines, to the rich education of a blog piece. From the witty copy on the side of a delivery box, to making science content engaging and digestible. You’ll work closely with our designers and be involved in ideation and execution of brand campaigns born within the creative team. With the ability to fearlessly present provocative ideas that turn heads and elicit grins.
In our fast-paced start-up environment, you’ll need to be scrappy, resourceful, and hands-on. You should be comfortable wearing multiple hats and making bold decisions. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping KatKin’s future with your ability to engage, provoke and draw emotion from our audience of cat parents.
Key ownership areas
* Helping to define, evolve and deliver the KatKin TOV across all customer touchpoints, delivering against the ever expanding needs of our business.
* Supplying TOV guidelines with the nuances needed for different customer touchpoints and being the guardian of consistency for the brand.
* Putting the customer first using data and insights to form decisions on TOV and copy execution.
* Writing world-class copy across all areas of the business to relentlessly high standards. Across every digital and physical touchpoint, from our website, to paid and organic social, to moments of delight in our boxes. This will be anything from short, snappy marketing copy, to sales-driven email flows, longer form blog pieces and everything in between.
* Thinking big when it comes to creative exploration of briefs so that we do not just write formulaically, but look for conceptual approaches to engage and delight our audience.
* Constantly bringing fresh concepts and ideas to the table with a strong appetite for playfully provocative, powerful, heart-warming and unmissable brand stories.
* Supporting the Creative Director in ideation and execution of brand campaigns, bringing ideas with smart, witty, emotive copywriting at their core.
* Delivering fresh, unchartered work as we constantly break new ground, launching new, unexplored channels and formats.
Who we are looking for:
* With 5+ years as a copywriter, your copy is flawless, your proofreading is eagle-eyed, and your witty confidence shines through in every word.
* You pride yourself on pushing boundaries, disrupting market expectations, thinking differently and tackling objectives from a challenger brand point of view. You can think on your feet, and are open to changes in direction in a fast growing business.
* You thrive on variety – you can switch from big campaign concepts to fast and snappy paid ad CTAs and back in a day. With agility.
* You are highly organised and obsessed with efficient processes that lead to more impact from a creative team’s output against creative requests.
* You care deeply about the commercial goals in the briefs you receive and focus on the data to learn and iterate towards success.
* A strategic thinker who is able to own loosely defined problems and issues of diverse scope.
* You get cat parents on a deep level: you put yourself in their shoes with empathy and insight on what they need and want to hear.
