Are you an apprentice trained Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about problem solving and reactive maintenance in a world leading manufacturing plant?
At Formula, we are looking for a Shift Mechanical Craft Person to work in our Engineering Team. You’ll be responsible for the mechanical engineering activities when on shift in order to keep production running for us to be able to deliver to our customers on time.
This Shift Mechanical Craft Person will be a part of the Engineering Team, which is a small but mighty team of Engineers who work together to Formulate a bright future for the operation. The Shift Mechanical Craft Person will be the sole mechanical expert on shift and will therefore possess the initiative to solve problems, perform repairs, and collaborate with production as well as the wider engineering team.
Formula is one of 30 Saint-Gobain brands and a leading supplier of industrial gypsum and plaster products, with applications in multiple industries including construction materials, ceramics, dental and personal care, food and agriculture, and more. Formula currently operates from 8 global manufacturing sites, supplying over 80 countries across all 5 continents.
You will be working 12 hour shifts following this pattern: 3 day shifts, then 2 off. 2 day shifts, then one off. 2 night shifts, then 2 days off. 3 night shifts, then 6 days off.

What we’re looking for:
* Apprentice trained mechanical engineer with experience in a heavy manufacturing setting
* Minimum NVQ Level III qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline
* Experience of welding, fabricating, bench fitting and machining
* Excellent communication and the ability to solve problems and collaborate with the shift electrician and other teams
What you will be doing:
* Reactive and planned engineering works on equipment including but not limited to: packing machines, palletisers, process equipment and conveyors
* Use root cause analysis to solve problems and communicate relevant data to prevent reoccurrence regarding maintenance problems
* Coach and assist operators on autonomous maintenance tasks
* Welding and fabrication tasks where necessary
* Liaise with contractors and shift electrician, working collaboratively on projects
