Job Description
A senior electronics design engineer is required to join the CGPD electronics group. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplined team developing ground-breaking new metrology solutions. An in-depth knowledge of electronics is an essential requirement along with a background of successfully designed products and knowledge of current electronic devices and techniques.
Responsibilities
1. Develop the electronics for new products, working with project managers and product managers to define product specifications and deliver designs to meet those specifications.
2. Development of VHDL firmware
3. Take ownership of the delivery of electronic designs that meet targets for product performance, quality, cost and timescale and which are suitable for transfer to production, considering design for assembly and test.
4. Work on multiple projects simultaneously and allocate time appropriately to meet delivery deadlines.
5. Work closely with others in a multi-disciplinary team, for example with software and mechanical design engineers and with production and purchasing teams.
Key requirements
6. Educated to at least degree level in electronics, or equivalent.
7. Experience in analogue and digital electronics design, including designing for electromagnetic compatibility.
8. Expertise in relevant ECAD schematic capture, PCB layout tools and circuit simulation tools.
9. Ability to communicate well with colleagues in a range of different job functions.
10. Ability to produce concise, well-written documentation.
11. At least 5 years relevant work experience.
Desirable requirements
12. Knowledge of VHDL for FPGAs.
13. Familiarity with embedded microprocessors and embedded C.
14. EMC testing experience.
15. Practical electronic circuit prototyping skills.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be able to work to deadlines, deliver projects to a high standard, and handle several projects simultaneously. Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills are essential, as is a good attention to detail and the ability to work in a team.
