You will be an employee of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust (BBCET).
The Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust is a group of 34 Primary schools and 5 High schools across three local authorities (Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland). At Bishop Bewick CET we want to ensure that all the children in our schools experience the best education possible, and so we are committed as a community of schools to come together and harness the very best of ourselves and to support each other so that all schools and employees thrive.
Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust are seeking to appoint an Estates Support Officer to work with our Estates Manager and wider team in support of our 39 schools. As an Estates Support Officer, you will be required to work flexibly across all 39 of our schools where issues and needs arise. This may include:
1. Providing relief caretaking support to any of our 39 schools when required.
2. Undertaking any reasonable site-related tasks as directed such as minor repairs, joinery, painting, responding to incidents, ensuring the safe delivery of contractor works, etc.
3. Raising the awareness and ability of other BBCET staff with regards to health and safety, helping to ensure relevant legal duties are complied with and recorded appropriately.
Prior experience working in a school in a facilities role would be an advantage, but more importantly are your practical DIY skills such as painting, joinery, plumbing alongside your proactive attitude in wanting to help others in delivering a safe and secure school environment. As many issues of health and safety compliance are recorded using IT, the postholder should be competent using basic IT systems such as email and premises management software.
This busy, hands-on role requires someone confident in taking on instructions and new challenges every day. You will be comfortable communicating with people verbally in a calm and effective manner.
As you will be supporting all 39 of our schools across the Northeast of England, you must be able to drive and hold a current (valid) UK driving licence. A van with tools will be provided.
An excellent benefits package is offered including:
1. Ongoing training and support to deliver the role and develop further.
2. Equivalent of a minimum 25 days holiday per year, plus public holidays.
3. Access to the Local Government pension scheme (employer contribution rate currently 18.9%).
4. Family friendly BBCET policies and practices that promote health and wellbeing.
5. Access to car lease, bike to work and local travel pass salary sacrifice scheme.
We are committed to safeguarding and the protection of all our pupils; therefore, the post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
Interviews: to be held 13th or 14th November 2024.
