Head Teacher (Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum)
The Head Teacher (Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum) is a new role as a result of an ongoing review of Additional Support Needs. The successful postholder will act as lead in improving educational outcomes for children and young people who are Care Experienced, deaf and visually impaired, have English as an Additional language, and those who require an adapted educational programme for all or part of their educational provision. They will also lead inclusive practice by overseeing professional development needs related to supporting learners as per the Moray staged intervention model. In addition, they will take a lead on wellbeing and partnership working to support children and young people.
The Head Teacher will work alongside colleagues in school, central officers and a wide range of partner agencies to bring forward improvements in the education of identified children and young people. The school does not exist in real terms; however, there are a number of buildings/settings which are available in Moray to support a range of needs. As a result, this post will be based in Headquarters in Elgin and will travel to satellite buildings as well as schools.
Working with Head Teachers, senior and middle leaders across Moray schools, the Head Teacher (Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum) will contribute to the 'raising attainment and achievement for all' agenda within Moray, ensuring inclusion and equality for all children who have needs as identified above. They will also track and monitor progress in children and young people accessing adapted curriculum.
The Head Teacher (Inclusion, Wellbeing and Adapted Curriculum) will lead and co-lead projects with others across Moray to drive change and build on the four pillars of inclusion supporting across the service with approaches to best meet the needs of learners. The post holder will lead on driving improvement in positive outcomes for all children and young people accessing an adapted curriculum or support services. This role will involve travel across Moray's 53 schools, working with colleagues in central establishments (e.g. Headquarters, East End Annexe, Pinefield and Flexible Learning Resources). Appropriate ICT equipment will be provided.
