As a Registered Health Care Professional working in Health Protection and Immunisation, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service. The post holder will undertake activities such as: clinical assessment, dilution and drawing up of the vaccine and post vaccine observations, sampling, venepuncture, cannulation and administration of intravenous and Intramuscular treatments. They will assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members. The post holder will work within the community health protection and immunisation team, to enhance uptake of all routine immunisation as well as offering vaccines as needed in outbreak situations. They will have a broad understanding of the schedule of both adult and childhood immunisation programmes and will work collaboratively and in partnership with other disciplines and agencies. They will manage the day-to-day operation of the Health Protection and immunisation workload and provide services within the community where required, such as in clients' homes, education settings, primary care settings and 'pop up' premises.
Main duties of the job
1. Work with service leads to analyse information gathered through contacts with families and undertake assessments and make informed decisions and professional judgments on treatment schedules and pathways which must be recorded in the documentation and when writing reports.
2. Work with the service leads to assess families with complex needs which will inform referrals to other multi-agency professionals if necessary.
3. Engage with colleagues, multi-agencies and relevant stakeholders to target areas of low uptake of immunisations and outbreak scenarios and improve and enhance uptake across the whole Hywel Dda University Health Board's footprint.
4. Plan, organise and prioritise own workload and identify and discuss competing priorities with service leads.
5. Act in accordance with legal and statutory guidance and comply with all Hywel Dda University Health Board policies and procedures, including safeguarding.
6. Act independently within the health board and professional guidelines, referring to supervisory management as appropriate.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
