ATA are currently working closely with an industry leader who provides innovative solutions for the materials handling sector. Our client has been at the forefront of robust British engineering and design. This modern business based in Corby is looking to add a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead their dynamic engineering team that boasts over 100 years of industry experience. You will have the chance to work on exciting projects and new product development with a business that prides itself on providing the best equipment to help their customers increase productivity, efficiency, and safety.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing bespoke solutions and updating existing products using 3D modelling (Inventor) and producing 2D drawings for manufacturing (Inventor and AutoCAD). You will work closely with various teams to ensure that designs are fit for purpose and meet all associated standards.
Some of the key duties of a Mechanical Design Engineer will be to:
1. Produce 3D models for components and assemblies using Inventor.
2. Create 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembling products.
3. Prepare product manuals with technical details.
4. Conduct engineering calculations and ensure compliance with directives and standards.
5. Develop new products through research and liaise with production and purchasing teams.
6. Attend customer sites when required.
The Candidate
The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer will have a passion for design and engineering, attention to detail.
To be successful in your application for the Mechanical Design Engineer role you will need:
1. Experience in designing machines, sheet-metal, and machined parts.
2. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Inventor or similar packages.
3. Strong engineering calculation skills and familiarity with risk analysis and machinery directives.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build internal relationships quickly.
5. Flexibility, initiative, and a can-do attitude.
