Job Title: Civil Litigation Solicitor Location: Devizes, Wiltshire (agile working) Salary : £55,944 - £58,899 Job Type: Full-time or Part-Time, Permanent Wiltshire Office of Police and Crime Commissioner is seeking an experienced and dedicated Civil Litigation Solicitor to join our growing legal team. This role will primarily involve assisting the Principal Force Solicitors in delivering a comprehensive and efficient legal service, providing advice and representation to the Chief Constable, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), Chief Officers, and police officers and staff across Wiltshire Police. What you will be doing: Independently and/or with limited supervision investigate and case-manage a mixed case load of pre-action and litigated civil claims (PL/EL) against and on behalf of the Chief Constable. Advise upon and manage cases involving police misconduct, employment law and coronial law, commensurate with your level of experience. Provide tactical advice and real-time advice on police operations Advise and assist in the obtainment of civil preventative orders arising out of operational policing matters such as Stalking Prevention Orders and Risk of Sexual Harm Orders. Building cases for applications to the magistrate and crown court. Provide advice to the OPCC on a range of legal issues. Ensure that both in-house and external services are provided in a cost-effective manner representing quality and best value for money and that costs are recovered wherever possible. Ensure cost-effective delivery of legal services, representing value for money, and recover costs where possible. About you and your experience: Applicants must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer in England and Wales, who has completed a training contract, pupillage (or has been exempted from this by the Law Society or Bar Council), or qualified through the CILEx route. Demonstrable experience of conducting and defending civil litigation. Experience of managing a significant and diverse workload in a demanding legal environment. Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders in a publicly accountable setting. Experience working for a Police Force/Authority or other Public Service would be advantageous.
