Group Financial Accountant - Bury St Edmunds - ARD1049571
This is a hybrid role that will require 2 or 3 days per week in our Bury St Edmunds office.
Purpose of the Role
This exciting new opportunity has arisen to join a growing team and play a key part in delivering of the year end financial statements for Ardonagh Advisory, which consists of 100+ legal entities across the UK. The role will encompass accounting for intra-group business transfers as well as external acquisitions including technical accounting and acquisition accounting, FCA regulatory returns, VAT returns, liaising with Company Secretary and other duties affecting an “outward” facing department.
What you will do
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your line manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following:
1. Support for the co-ordination of year-end process of the annual financial statements of the Advisory Platform;
2. Review annual financial statements ensuring they are compliant with FRS 101 and legal requirements;
3. Provide appropriate information to external auditors in efficient timescales to ensure year-end timetables are met;
4. Work collaboratively with other Finance Teams to ensure auditor requests are met in an efficient and effective manner;
5. Prepare regulatory, tax and other external reports and associated supporting documentation;
6. Preparation of “tax packs” to assist the internal tax team CT computations and notes to the financial statements;
7. Prepare, using legal agreements, the required accounting entries for legal entity acquisitions;
8. Oversee legal entity life cycle activities during the corporate expansion plans including strike off process;
9. Provide technical accounting, regulatory reporting and tax insight including horizon scanning.
Qualifications and Experience
Education – Degree, preferably in business or accountancy related discipline.
Specialised Knowledge – FRS 101, IFRS
Microsoft Excel - Skills to an advanced level
Professional Certification – ACA/ACCA qualified
Experience – Good experience of working in an external reporting environment; a good understanding of regulatory reporting specifically for insurance intermediaries.
This is an opportunity for someone with hands-on experience of preparation of financial statements under FRS 101. You will need to be a proactive influencer with strong stakeholder management skills who can communicate effectively whilst planning and organising their time effectively. Self-motivation and a driven individual who works well in a team but can use their initiative and resourcefulness. Strong attention to detail is essential, as well as analytical, investigative and logical reasoning skills.
