In this role, you will be joining the team responsible for defining repairs for wings across the whole of the Airbus commercial fleet, from the remaining A300s flying to the latest A350. The department’s engineers provide repair solutions ranging from small items fixed in hours, to major incidents taking weeks or months to resolve. We also collaborate in the design of the latest aircraft to ensure future designs are repairable, and support research activities including full scale wing tests.
You can expect to work closely with the department’s experienced engineers, as well as with specialists in other key areas of the business.
You will be on a development pathway to guide your growth into the role of Wing In-Service Repair Engineer and can expect to be involved in the following:
1. Repair design, including CAD tools, to define the repair and provide instructions on how to install it.
2. Stress analysis using a range of calculation methods and tools to demonstrate the structural performance of the repair.
3. Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis to show that the repaired structure will remain safe for the aircraft’s life.
4. Ensuring that the repair meets all the requirements (certification, manufacturing etc.) necessary to ensure a safe and effective solution.
Your development journey will include a minimum of one rotational placement to support your growth into position. For this role, placements would typically include an out-of-business placement (e.g. with an Airline or Maintenance Repair Organisation), combined with placements at key internal teams such as Customer Services, Chief Engineers or Future Projects.
