Applications are invited for the post of Data Protection Manager within the Data Protection Information Access Team based at Hutton Headquarters.
The Data Protection Manager has a wide-reaching role and will provide advice on matters in relation to information law compliance and data protection/privacy matters across the business. This is a busy and varied role, with the processing of data by new technologies requiring the Data Protection Manager to lead and continue to embed the privacy by design approach.
You will work with and deputise for the Head of Data Protection & DPO in undertaking the statutory role of DPO when required and be responsible for the performance and management of the Information Compliance and Access (including subject access and Freedom of Information) Team, Data Protection Compliance and Audit Team, and the Data Protection (Ethics & Innovation) Advisor.
The use of data and data management is at the heart of effective policing. The Data Protection Office within the Constabulary undertakes the information governance functions in relation to data management, including data protection, information security, and records management.
The successful candidate will have thorough and up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legislation, codes of practice, and national guidelines in order to identify, present, and apply solutions and ensure compliance with the Data Protection legislation, Human Rights Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000, and NPCC guidance.
Please note, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass MV Vetting. There is a minimum 5-year UK residency required for Management Vetting.
