Do you have an understanding of homelessness, alcohol and health related issues, and experience of working with adults in an addictions, housing or social care setting?
On behalf of a highly reputable and respected charity, I am seeking a Homeless Prevention Officer to join and complement their team. You will become an important member of an organisation that offers services for adults who use or are affected by substance use, homelessness, and gambling. The housing service covers support for clients who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless, as well as a more structured longer-term floating support service to enable clients to maintain their tenancies.
As a Homeless Prevention Officer, you will:
* Understand the barriers clients face accessing accommodation.
* Recognise that secure and stable housing is key to recovery and that the ability to engage in treatment is impacted by those experiencing homelessness.
* Work in various locations across Solihull, including advice surgeries in community settings, home visits/outreach visits, and office-based work; the role entails reaching out to hard-to-engage clients.
* Handle tenancy sign-ups and evictions when required, including health and safety checks on site.
* Utilise legal advice services to effectively advocate on service users' behalf.
Key Requirements of a Homeless Prevention Officer:
* Proven track record of working in homeless prevention previously or working with local authority/health services.
* Understanding of homeless assessments and housing legislation.
* Car driver is highly desired as the role will involve travel over the Solihull and Birmingham area.
* DBS issued in the last 12 months or on the update service.
Experience of supporting clients in finding accommodation and preventing those at risk of becoming homeless is essential.
If you feel you meet the criteria for a Homeless Prevention Officer, please apply within. For more details, you can reach me on the office line.
