We are looking for an Occupational Therapist to come and join our friendly and supportive team based in Glastonbury. You could be a newly qualified Occupational Therapist or an OT looking for a new challenge.
We have 2 in-patient units at West Mendip Hospital and Glastonbury Care Home.
In this role, you will be working with in-patients as part of the pathways 2/3 team. We work with a variety of patients who often come from acute hospitals to complete their rehabilitation.
You will be supported on-site by an experienced team leader, who is an occupational therapist and a band 6 OT to develop your skills in working holistically with patients.
Free on-site parking is available in both units.
Full-time positions are available, but part-time working and job share will be considered. Agile, flexible working, and secondments are also options.
You may be required to travel between intermediate care bedded units; therefore, use of your own car would be advantageous but not essential.
Main duties of the job
To undertake comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multiple pathologies, e.g., complex social situations, end of life care, people with lower limb amputations, life-limiting conditions, frailty, cognitive decline/deficit, and neurological conditions.
Carry out standardised assessments to diagnose physical and cognitive functional levels.
Formulate and deliver a personal treatment programme using clinical assessment, reasoning skills, and knowledge of treatment skills, e.g., activity analysis of functional skills, patient education, manual handling techniques, and other alternative options. This will be done taking into account the person's own goals and those of the multidisciplinary team to predict achievable outcomes and recommend the best course of intervention.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehab assistants, nurses, social workers, pharmacy technicians, discharge facilitators, and others.
