Job Summary
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with extensive Critical Care experience as a Band 5 or Band 6 within the specialty to join the team.
The Critical Care Shared Service comprises of a 40 bedded Critical Care Unit based at the Salford Care Organisation and an 8 bedded Critical Care at the Bury Care Organisation. The Critical Care Unit cares for level 2 & 3 General adult, Surgical and Trauma patients and Neuroscience, Spinal and Trauma patients on the Salford site. The patients can be either on elective or emergency pathways of care.
The Critical Care Unit at Bury stabilises and transfers level 3 patients with ongoing complex critical care needs to Oldham and Salford or further afield if required. Level 2 respiratory, cardiac and renal patients with some elective surgical patients are also admitted and cared for at Bury.
Cross site working is expected at times and provides opportunities for enhancing your skills.
Main Duties of the Job
It is essential that you are a proficient critical care practitioner, hold a post registration critical care qualification and have completed the Mentorship Assessor and Supervisor training. You must be able to deliver a high standard of evidence-based individual patient care. You will have evidence of continual professional development which is relevant to this specialty. Level 3 skills are essential to this role. You must also be able to demonstrate self-motivation and leadership skills, together with the ability to communicate effectively.

Registration and Qualifications
Essential:
* First Degree in nursing or an equivalent portfolio of evidence.
* NMC Registration.
* Post Registration Qualification in Critical Care.
Desirable:
* Mentorship qualification.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Evidence of clinical expertise and knowledge acquired through CPD and experience.
* Evidence of involvement and leadership in teaching and mentoring learners.
* Evidence of involvement in the development of protocols, clinical audit and quality improvement.
* Evidence of ability to take charge in the absence of their direct line manager.
* Extensive experience at Band 5/6.
