The Role We are seeking a dedicated and driven Development Manager to manage our fundraising efforts in the UK, and EU. In this role, you will play a critical part in helping to grow our fundraising programs, manage donor relationships, and ensure the effective execution of our development strategies. You will report to our Chief Development Officer helping to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of approximately 40 major gift donors, trusts and foundations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in relationship-building, grant writing, and all areas of development process, with a strong commitment to the nonprofit sector and the mission of our organisation. As a donor-facing professional, you will help align the aspirations and passions of potential funding partners with CCDH’s mission. To engage donors from multiple sectors and backgrounds, you will shape and tailor compelling narratives, proposals and cases for support. You will identify new funding opportunities through research, networking, events, and engagement with CCDH’s wide community of partners and allies. You will play a key role in managing and refining the essential fundraising processes within the organisation. This will include prospect research, impact reporting, stewardship, event management, grant administration, and more. As the second full-time professional fundraiser in the organisation, you will be a significant contributor to our overall fundraising performance. You will manage stewardship processes, maintaining recognition and impact reporting strategies to keep donors engaged and invested in CCDH’s mission. You will use our CRM to manage all elements of your development portfolio, and will work with the finance team to align fundraising goals with budgets and reporting requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for writing compelling grant proposals and managing the full grant lifecycle, ensuring our funding applications are aligned with organisational priorities. Your experience in grant writing and strategic management will be essential in securing sustainable funding to support our mission. You must be skilled in grant writing, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and manage the grant application process effectively. Job Responsibilities Strategic Fundraising: Assist in the development and execution of CCDH’s fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Collaborate with the senior leadership team to identify potential funding opportunities that align with CCDH’s mission. · Track and report on fundraising progress using Salesforce or similar CRM systems, helping to present fundraising analyses to leadership and the Board. Support efforts to diversify revenue streams by researching potential donors, grants, and corporate sponsors. Help establish and implement fundraising best practices, ensuring alignment with CCDH’s broader organisational initiatives, including policy, communications, and research efforts. Major Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management Support: Support the cultivation and stewardship of existing major donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic networks. Assist with creating tailored donor strategies, including crafting proposals and supporting stewardship communications. Help build relationships with potential donors and strengthen the organisation’s presence in philanthropic circles. Coordinate and assist with donor communications and engagement activities, ensuring they align with CCDH’s mission and donor interests. Grant Writing & Management: Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities from foundations, donors, and organisations. Ability to write compelling, clear, and persuasive grant proposals that align with the organisation’s mission and priorities. Ensure that all grant applications, reports, and compliance documentation are submitted on time and in accordance with funder requirements. Track and manage grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and financial reporting to funders. Maintain a grants calendar to ensure timely submission of grant proposals and reports. Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of donor and grant information in the organisation’s donor management system. Proactively maintain all grant application and reporting cycles and donor touchpoints via use of SalesForce Monitor and evaluate fundraising progress, providing regular updates and reports to the Chief Development Officer. Analyse fundraising trends, donor behaviour, and grant outcomes to inform future strategies and campaigns. Operational Support & Team Collaboration: Provide operational support to the development team, ensuring they have the necessary systems, tools, and resources for effective fundraising. Collaborate with the finance team to align fundraising goals with the organisation’s budget and reporting requirements. · Assist in the preparation of pitch decks, donor messaging, and other fundraising materials, supporting CEO and CDO-led fundraising efforts. Event Planning & Stewardship Support: Help coordinate donor engagement events, ensuring high-touch experiences that strengthen relationships and keep donors connected to CCDH’s mission. Person Specification Essential Experience: Deep interest or passion for CCDH’s mission · 5 years in fundraising, grant writing, or a related nonprofit field. Skilled in cultivating donor relationships and writing clear, persuasive grant proposals. Experience managing data and reporting using CRM systems (ideally Salesforce). Understanding of fundraising best practices and donor behaviour. Knowledge of grant application processes, compliance, and reporting. Skills: Strong written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals, donor reports, and stewardship materials. Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with leadership. Results-driven, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
