Automotive Commodity Buyer (Contract)
Contract: Outside IR35, up to 6 months

Travel: Required as needed to supplier sites
Job Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Automotive Commodity Buyer for a 6-month contract, working with nominated suppliers and specific commodity lines to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, high-cost automotive parts. This role is crucial in managing technically advanced components in line with dynamic vehicle design needs. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge in automotive and product development, possess excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills, and be comfortable in a cross-functional team (XFT) environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supplier Coordination: Work closely with selected suppliers to secure the on-time delivery of high-quality, advanced components, aligning with vehicle production schedules.
* Order Management: Ensure the correct quantity of parts are ordered, expedited, and aligned with vehicle needs, including managing outbound/inbound data, drawings, specifications, contracts, and packing paperwork.
* Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards in part quality and handle technically complex components that are subject to design changes.
* Documentation and Communication: Provide detailed documentation and maintain clear, concise communication with suppliers, internal teams, and management.
* Negotiation: Lead negotiations to optimize costs and manage supplier contracts, focusing on value while maintaining quality.
* Problem Solving: Tackle challenges in supply chain and logistics promptly, identifying solutions and ensuring delivery continuity.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Keep management informed of project progress, proactively addressing potential issues to avoid unexpected delays or disruptions.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience in automotive or product development buying or procurement roles.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team (XFT) environment.
* Strong skills in supplier management, contract negotiation, and logistics coordination.
* Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and a clear communication style.
* Ability to operate with a can-do, solution-focused mindset, balancing persistence with a realistic understanding of project limits.

* Travel as needed to meet suppliers and oversee part deliveries.
* Must be able to work independently and maintain a "no surprises" approach to keeping management updated on project status and potential issues.
