Men's National League - Head Coach

Sheffield Hockey Club (SHC) is one of the oldest hockey clubs in the country and is proud to be one of the premier clubs in the North of England providing an outstanding hockey experience from participation through to elite performance.
We currently run seven male, five female and one mixed development league teams. Our men’s 1st XI play in the EHL North Conference. We are very proud to have produced and developed a number of players who have gone on to play for the home nations as well as in the Olympic Games for Team GB.
We have a successful Youth section with over 280 boys and girls aged 5 to 16 and part of the first cohort of clubs to achieve England Hockey Talent Centre status back in 2022 in recognition of the quality of our youth hockey development programme.
The role:
You will lead our men’s performance programme, covering our first and second teams, who currently compete in the National League and Yorkshire & North-East Division One respectfully.
From pre-season training, player selection to match day coaching, this all-encompassing coaching role will require you to lead all elements of the coaching and development programme for our men’s performance squads alongside supporting player pathway development for our talented youth and university players.
Part of this role will also require you overseeing the coaching services the club provide to Sheffield Hallam University men’s first team.
Training for the club performance squad takes place each Tuesday evening and on alternate Thursday evenings, with training for the university squad on a Monday evening during term time.
At the heart of this role will be to ensure our elite athletes have the right environment and support to be the best they can be both on and off the pitch.
What we’re looking for:
You will be an experienced fully qualified coach with previous experience and a track record of coaching at National League or Regional Premier (or similar) level. You will be able to demonstrate outstanding technical knowledge of individual and team principles including techniques, tactics and coaching trends and ability to apply the demands of elite level performance within a talent development environment.
As a strong communicator, who is energetic, positive, and nurturing, while still ambitious, visionary and challenging you will be able to demonstrate a track record of coaching adults and developing youths, integrating them into the senior set-up at the highest level.
This role will suit individuals who have a passion to deliver consistent and exceptional programmes. With a 'can do' attitude, you must be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
