About the Role The Head of Supply Chain covers all the activities of an industrial manufacturer, with the aim of improving the reliability of the flow of materials into and out of the business. This role controls key processes across the business, such as S&OP, Inventory levels, finished Goods levels, safety stocks and is responsible for the business OTIF. Key Responsibilities Manage the Planning and Control Process for the site. Lead the Supply Chain department and team in line with Baxi Company Values Lead the S&OP process across the Preston Business Analyse and incorporate the variations in demand into the supply plan. Carry out scenario modelling for the various demand hypothesis (high, nominal, low) Within the S&OP process, work with the VS’s to manage the resource taking care to monitor all critical and bottleneck resources. Work with the Head of Purchasing to implement action plans to reduce hazards, (i.e. external supply constraints, uncertainties, new developments, transfers) in order to maintain the desired service level within the scope of activities Create the inventory forecast and monitor progress and be accountable for the inventory accuracy across the business Control the volume of WIP across the business by monitoring and calculating the deployment and cost of buffers. Manage the FG warehouse & distribution teams to ensure a high level of efficiency Work with the finance sector to provide a financial assessment of the S&OP plan Manage the master production schedule and the material requirements plan validation Adapt the supply plan or master production schedule in case of under/overload to balance the load/capacity and suggest actions for more flexibility within the VS’s to absorb occasional overload Work with the VS’s and Head of Purchasing to manage the detailed scheduling process following the calculation of the material requirements plan and control and optimise component/materials availability and stock levels (raw materials, WIP, semi-finished and finished products) Ensure that schedules are produced as planned and are adjusted according to the risks of the external environment Ensure that deadlines are upheld to honour customer requirements by being accountable for the OTIF for External, Internal commitments Manage the overall logistics flow (incoming, internal and outgoing), including working with the VS’s to ensure efficient line feeding. Ensure the reliability of the data and its accuracy within the ERP system for stock controls Measure and analyse performance of the Supply Chain Process within the VS’s using the defined metrics and provide the required weekly/monthly reports Analyse the root cause of metrics not at target level and work to develop the necessary action/recovery plans. Lead and contribute to lean and improvement projects and ensure that changes introduced are replicated within the processes and IT systems to ensure the effectiveness of planning parameters Participate to the monthly; Internal and external supply chain governance meetings Preston Op’s meeting H&S meeting Quality Review NPD meeting Supply Chain review Production Sales review Stock Takes, Audits & Assessments In make or buy committee preparation on the outsourcing or insourcing of products Actively contribute to Value Stream Leaders governance meetings Leadership Focus: Ensure effective communications in support of cultural change, being pro-active and aligned to our Company values. Supervise, coach, develop and provide leadership and direction to your wider team Promote team working and a “One Team” ethos. Define and assist in training, development and succession planning of your team. Together with the leadership team, understand customer demands and through the S&OP process, define actions needed to improve performance. Engage with and cascade to manufacturing teams in this process. Organise regular formal and informal performance feedback with supervisors and conduct 6-monthly appraisals for your direct reports and check in regularly on their wellbeing. Manage performance/conduct matters in partnership with the HR team. Partner with the Purchasing team, to generate robust build plans. Review and as appropriate, introduce changes to the planning process, to ensure the most effective utilisation of resource and optimise cost. Actively support and positively promote Company initiatives/projects Financial Focus: As part of the manufacturing leadership team, support delivery of budgeted orders Engage in monthly production performance reviews and prepare improvement action plans Ensure that annual departmental budgets are adhered to Provide inputs for periodic forecasts and monthly, quarterly, half and full-year reports. Identify Capex requirements to improve safety, quality & boost productivity. Prepare payback justifications. Additional Duties, Responsibilities & Measurements: The Head of Supply Chain will play a key role in accelerating the stabilisation of Stainless and transformation of Assembly operations at the Preston site – both of which are essential to the delivery of Baxi’s strategic business objectives for customer delivery, efficiency improvement, cost reduction, delivering financial growth.
