To be responsible for the unsupervised assessment of patients care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of plans of care.
To provide efficient, effective and evidence-based nursing care to children and young people within the hospital setting.
To perform nursing procedures to a high standard in accordance with the Royal Free Clinical Practice Guidelines and policies and to ensure that these policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all staff within own management responsibility.
To be competent in the recognition and management of life threatening
emergencies in children and be able to carry these out in the hospital setting.
To be responsible for highlighting and identification of child protection concerns to the team leader/ child protection lead and auctioning concerns through child protection procedures. To ensure the team adhere to the child protection policies and guidelines.
To maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records, using appropriate documentation and Nursing Information System, and ensure their confidentiality and safe keeping in accordance with the NMC and trust guidelines.
To ensure safe custody and administration of drugs according to The Royal Free policy and procedures including intravenous and central venous
medication.
To organise workload in line with clinical priorities.
