Our client is a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in the North East, operating as a sub-contractor for major and regional housebuilders, as well as other market sectors.
The company has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for increased responsibility and invaluable experience to progress their career within a highly reputable company, characterized by high standards and rewards.
Responsibilities:
* Controlling costs of groundworks projects to ensure they run efficiently, effectively, profitably, and safely.
* Measuring all site works accurately.
* Providing early cost advice to clients on variations.
* Identifying commercial risks and providing appropriate solutions/responses.
* Undertaking cost analysis and advising on procurement/cost control.
* Producing a range of cost value reports.
* Valuing completed work to ensure timely payments.
* Understanding the importance of cash flow and timely payments, including retention payments.
* Building strong relationships with client staff and company production staff.
* Allocating work to sub-contractors, including assistance with procurement when required.
* Assisting with the development of any assistants/trainees.
Experience Required:
* Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
* Experience working for a residential groundworks sub-contractor.
* Knowledge of contractual terms within groundworks.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Effective communicator (written and verbal).
* Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Team player with the ability to establish and build positive relationships.
