Long-Term Teachers supports a fantastic special secondary school that is seeking a dedicated learning support assistant to join their team. As a learning support assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their individual goals.
The needs of the students you will be supporting are focused around social, emotional and mental health needs. Students typically have high-anxiety and are school refusers. Therefore, patience and resilience are essential qualities for this role.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs, both within and outside the classroom
* Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
* Implement EHCP’s and support with the monitoring of student progress
* Support students to develop socialism emotional and academic skills
* Participate in training and professional development opportunities
Previous UK based experience working with children is essential, preferably in an education based setting. If you have a background in care/support work, you already possess the necessary skills, experiences and qualities to be successful in this role.
You will be working Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only. If you prove to be an invaluable member of the team, there will be the opportunity to make this position permanent.
