Working for Inclusive Curriculum and Teaching Team in the Education Directorate
Key influence on schools and settings across Somerset
We’re working to improve the lives of children and young people here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.
You will work closely with the Senior Expert Advisor Inclusive Curriculum & Teaching to develop and implement effective inclusive systems and strategies that promote inclusion, equality, and diversity in schools and settings. You will ensure that effective curriculum development and pedagogy to support the inclusivity of education and quality of teaching across the phases is prioritised and coordinated.
Your day-to-day work will involve:
1. Acting as a lead professional in situations where the curriculum or education phase specialism makes them best placed to coordinate the work of others and advise accordingly
2. Collaborating with senior leaders, teachers and external agencies to create an inclusive environment and curriculum offer in schools that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of all students.
3. Ensuring that all students, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), have access to high-quality education, pedagogy and support.
4. Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of curriculum design and inclusive teaching practices and make recommendations for improvements
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have the following experience and qualifications:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is an essential requirement
2. Excellent leadership and management skills
3. Significant experience in at least one of the following educational phases: Early Years, Primary or Secondary
4. Experience working with students with SEND
5. Experience in delivering training and professional development to staff
