We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Liverpool. In this role, you will provide high-level professional accounting support, ensuring financial integrity across LSTM’s UK and international operations. Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in treasury management, financial controls, and the preparation of financial statements. Key responsibilities will include: Treasury Management Oversee day-to-day treasury operations for the LSTM Group Authorise BACs and sundry payments, maintaining robust financial controls Assess and propose hedging requirements to manage currency risk, ensuring effective drawdown and reconciliation of relevant balance sheet accounts Tax Compliance Prepare and submit group VAT returns, including partial exemption calculations, annual adjustments, and capital goods scheme compliance Ensure accurate recording of reverse charge VAT on a monthly basis and compliance with HMRC regulations Capital Assets Management Maintain and update the fixed asset register for LSTM Group, ensuring all asset tagging is up to date Calculate and process monthly depreciation and deferred capital charges Monitor actual capital expenditure against budget, collaborating with the Head of Estates to address any variances Year End Prepare financial statements for subsidiary companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with reporting standards Support external audits by providing timely and accurate financial data, addressing audit queries, and ensuring a smooth audit process Financial Controls and Processes Ensure all non-finance staff are kept informed of financial controls and procedures, providing training where necessary The ideal candidate will bring the following: ACCA or ACA Part-Qualified (or equivalent) Strong experience in financial management, reporting, and accounting software Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines Experience of preparing VAT returns Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail Strong communication skills to explain financial matters to non-financial stakeholders Experience in treasury management, working with multi-currency environments and dealing with international funders would also be beneficial for this position however, this is not essential.
