Could you support two young men with learning disabilities, to lead gloriously ordinary lives?
We are looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to join our friendly team of Support Workers in Flitwick. We all know a good night’s sleep is important for how we feel the next day, so you will be making a real difference in someone’s life even when they are asleep.
What will you be doing?
As a Waking Nights Support Worker, your main role will be regularly checking in on Alfie and Joe whilst they sleep, making sure that everything is ok and that they are getting a good night’s sleep. Sometimes they may wake-up during the night, and so you will then support them in whatever they may need. This may be reassuring and chatting with them so that they are able to go back to sleep, or providing support with personal care and medication. Most importantly, your role is to make sure they do not feel vulnerable throughout the night.
Alfie* moved in recently moved in recently and Joe* will be joining him in January. Joe is registered blind. They are both 18 years old and about to start a new exciting phase in their lives. Like all people about to embark on a big change, they are both excited and nervous, so you and the team will play an important role in making the transition as smooth as possible.
Alfie is a live wire and always on the go. He has already told us he is looking forward to going bowling and loves Karaoke nights. He will be attending college during the day and going home at weekends.
You will need to be a driver as there will be a car available for them to use. Being mobile unlocks a range of activities and broadens their options to explore their new environment.
As you get to know them as individuals, you will support them to build a routine of activities that allows them to thrive in this next stage of their lives.
If you are someone who loves variety in your work, you will fit in perfectly here.
We are looking for people who can either work 3 or 4 night shifts per week.
