The role of the Cyber Security Engineer is to: Work within a small team of cyber security engineers to fully manage, maintain, and improve a unique set of IT Security products used by the Bank's Cyber teams. Products that's teams use to detect and respond to Cyber Attacks that could compromise the Bank's systems or data. These products include on premise SIEM (Security Information Event Management), NDR (Network Detection and Response), SOAR (Security Orchestration Automation and Response) and Endpoint Detection and Response (agent- based tool). The individual will be required to keep the Bank's products online and available plus conduct root cause analysis with service impacting issues. They will need to manage technical risks, vulnerabilities, incidents, changes, concessions and liaise with third party vendors and our customers. The role will involve collaborative working with colleagues to assist them in ensuring that system integration and consistent approaches are maintained. It also involves interaction with both technical and non -technical colleagues across the Bank, so a clear and appropriate communication style is important to ensure customer satisfaction for the services delivered. The jobholder will also maintain, develop, and improve the tools, processes, procedures, and documentation for which they are responsible, to meet changing business and team requirements. The role (if skills possessed) also includes using Dev Ops and scripting skills to automate processes. They must adhere to the organisation's policies, standards and guidelines when undertaking their work, planning, managing, and prioritising their workload as required. They will contribute to the wider function and Bank goals, targets, and objectives, ensuring that IT security activities comply with the Bank's risk appetite and risk management framework. Role requirements This role requires hands on experience as a Platform Support Engineer in operational security activities, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to produce clear documentation and concise reporting. Experience in engaging with internal stakeholders will be vital, taking a service orientated and customer focused approach. The ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences, talk through technical details to both technical and non-technical people and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. The role will require candidates who are knowledgeable with technical infrastructure, networks, security applications, operating systems as well as practical operational skills, ideally a self-starter. The individual will need to be a team player with the ability to manage workloads and prioritise. There will also be a requirement for some out of hours work as and when work items dictate. Minimum (Essential) Criteria Experience of working in a "support" engineering role, preferably gained in an operational environment. At least 3 years Experience of working with SIEM technologies. Broad support experience cover, troubleshooting technologies such as: Networking - Switches, routers and firewalls. Desktop and Network operating systems. Productivity suites - Word Processing, Spreadsheets tec A good understanding of network principles and protocols. Experience of working collaboratively within project teams, delivering to multiple customers. Used to maintaining operational support documentation such as Runbooks and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plans. Able to work as part of the team, and independently, adopting agile ways of working. Demonstrate the ability to keep up to date with new technologies and the Cyber Threat Landscape. Able to manage own workload within tight timescales to a successful outcome. Desirable Criteria - Experience in the following Experience supporting and maintaining cloud hosted resources. Configuration experience using Dev Ops tools such as Ansible or ability to learn. Experience of integrating third party management toolsets and emerging technologies. Database troubleshooting experience with MS SQL and Oracle. Scripting knowledge of one of the following PowerShell, Perl, MS SQL, or Python. Experience with updating Digital Certificates. ITIL Foundation knowledge (Business as Usual- incidents, work requests and changes). Holding any of the relevant qualifications (or working towards), (e.g., CISSP, CCNA, Security, Windows Certifications, Cloud Security Certifications). Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows: Leeds circa £40,320 - £45,360 London circa £44,800 - £50,400 In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
