Are you passionate about food, an absolute grafter, and known for your endearing positive attitude? We are seeking a Production & Technical Team Leader to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone eager to advance their career in technical compliance and production management within the food industry. You’ll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring that our high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency are not only met but exceeded. You will lead and mentor our production team, helping them to be the best that they can be.
Key Responsibilities
* Compliance and Quality Assurance: Assist the HACCP team leader in maintaining compliance with BRCGS and other required codes of practice. Ensure all microbiological testing is carried out on time and support audit processes.
* Team Leadership: Work closely with the Production Director to lead, supervise & mentor a small, dedicated team. You will ensure that daily production plans are implemented, targets and deadlines are met, and only the highest quality goods are produced and packed.
* Training and Development: Assist in staff training, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively. Beyond this, organise team building events & social activities to bring the whole company together.
* Safety and Hygiene: Ensure the team operates in line with food safety, health and safety, and hygiene processes, maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
* Reporting and Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and senior management, providing updates on production, quality and safety.
* Contribute to continual development: Look for opportunities to improve our systems & processes and proactively put them into practice.
About You
Experience: Previous experience in food manufacturing is preferred, though candidates from a food retailer background will also be considered. Audit skills or qualifications are a plus. You have experience leading a small team within a food production or manufacturing environment. Experience with SALSA or BRCGS is essential.
Technical Knowledge: You have a solid understanding of health and safety and food safety requirements, with experience in quality assurance, HACCP and audit processes.
Skills: Highly organised with excellent MS Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word. Familiarity with SAP systems or similar, and the ability to quickly learn our Notazone stock management and traceability system.
Attributes: You are proactive, reliable, responsible and caring, with diligence for maintaining high standards. You have strong attention to detail, are comfortable with physical tasks and take pride in the quality of your work.
Education: Food Safety/Hygiene qualification level 3 required. Advanced Food Safety/Hygiene level 4 and HACCP level 3 are desirable but not essential.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 0830-1630. During busy periods, there may be a need to increase your working hours, but any changes will always be agreed upon in advance.
Contract: Permanent contract, following 6-month period of probation.
Pay: Annual salary £25,000 plus pension (rising to £26,000 on successful completion of probation period) plus annual holiday entitlement of 28 days which includes bank holidays.
