37.5 hours per week.
In 2017, the Government published its Green Paper for Transforming children and young people's mental health, which detailed proposals for expanding access to mental health care for children and young people, building on the national NHS transformation programme which was already underway.
Livewell have been successful in securing further funding, which has meant an expansion of the existing team, and we now are looking for a dynamic and creative manager to support the current management in continuing to deliver this fantastic service to the city in the coming years.
MHSTs have three core functions:
1. to deliver evidence-based interventions for mild-to-moderate mental health issues;
2. support the senior mental health lead (where established) in each school or college to introduce or develop a whole school or college approach;
3. give timely advice to school and college staff, and liaise with external specialist services to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with other members of the CYPFS management team, you will be expected to lead in the development and implementation of the Trail Blazer Mental Health Support Teams (MHST). In line with the emerging national model, your team will be providing a high-quality service to meet the local needs of children, young people, and their parents/carers within a specific educational community setting.
The post holder will be responsible for the overall management of a locality MHST. This is expected to be with one locality team; this is a fast-developing service and further locality teams will be added to the post holder's portfolio of management and leadership responsibility.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective operational management of the Mental Health Support Team including line management of staff, financial and performance management. They will use effective leadership, change management, and team building skills to monitor, evaluate, and develop the service provided.
The post holder will act in support of Service Leaders and fellow Team Leaders in providing Clinical Leadership and advice across the MHST Service both locally and nationally. The post holder will act in support of the MHST Operational and Clinical Service Manager, deputising and carrying out delegated roles, duties, and responsibilities as required and as part of a dedicated Management structure.

* A professional qualification (Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Social Worker, BABCP etc)
* Active registration with professional body (NMC, HCPC, BACP)
* Training to level 3 in Safeguarding children and young people: roles and competencies for Health Care staff

* An excellent understanding of the Mental Health Act and mental health presentations in children/young people across the age range.
* An excellent understanding of Early Intervention and Prevention practice.
