Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Staff - Manufacturing - Salary + Bonus + Benefits - County Durham
Our client, a leading chemicals manufacturing company, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on a permanent staff basis. You will provide mechanical engineering support to the Maintenance department of the site to ensure that both legal and company standards are adhered to and that the current and future targets for SHE, asset condition, production, and fixed costs are achieved.
Responsibilities:
1. To be the site responsible mechanical engineer providing technical mechanical engineering support to enable the company to satisfy its internal and statutory standards obligations, including the sign-off of all mechanical statutory inspection reports and the timely completion of remedial actions.
2. To support the mechanical maintenance team on technical issues regarding job scope and equipment specification, including the specification of mechanical engineering stores stock items.
3. Ensure compliance with legislative and Company standards for mechanical maintenance activities.
4. To implement improvements through the management of change processes performing the role of the mechanical engineering authority.
5. To participate in process system developments as the mechanical technical expert, including: hazops, SIL assessments, RBI's etc.
6. To develop the maintenance system to ensure that budget and reliability targets are achieved. Specifically, this includes: failure reviews, conditioning monitoring reviews, procedure development, changes to the preventive maintenance system, and participation in improvement projects through the TQ.
7. To conduct SHE audits and compliance audits to ensure that work instructions are being followed and that excellent SHE performance is achieved.
8. To be involved in capital projects and, in some cases, manage maintenance capital projects.
9. Responsible for selection and commissioning of specialist external services to supplement the internal maintenance team where specialist skills or knowledge is required, defining and managing service contracts where appropriate.
Experience & Qualifications:
1. Educated to degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing; Chartered Engineer or working towards it would be desirable.
2. Industry experience in either chemicals, petrochemical, refineries, COMAH, or similar regulated environments would be preferred.
3. Detailed knowledge of Engineering legislation, standards, and techniques.
4. Knowledge of maintenance operations and techniques, boiler house operations, and maintenance activities.
