Paediatric Staff Nurse – Starlight Ward - Oncology
Starlight Ward is our paediatric oncology, haematology and bone marrow transplant inpatient ward. We are the principal treatment centre in the south west for haematology and oncology and an international referral centre for bone marrow transplant. We have 17 cubicles and predominantly care for 0-12 year olds.
There is a robust ward induction and a thorough and supportive supernumerary period. On Starlight, we have a passion for education and a Clinical Skills Facilitator to support upskilling and competencies available for all nurses.
We have an in-house educational programme including introduction to cancer, regional programme and chemotherapy training plus external learning opportunities including conference attendance, university courses and modules.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Bristol Royal Hospital for Children provides services for children from across the south west of England, and is one of the UK’s five specialist Paediatric Major Trauma Centres.
Main duties of this job include:
* Being competent and experienced in administering intravenous medication and the administration of chemotherapy and blood products in oncology patients.
* Delivering high-quality care.
* Developing clinical skills and participating in professional development.
* Communicating with and working with a multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge and Experience
* Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment.
* Interest in the clinical area.

* Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and MDT.

Qualifications and Training
* RSCN/ RN child branch (NMC registered) or equivalent.
