A medical degree from a recognised UK or overseas university is essential. Candidates should have prior training in Ophthalmology and experience in research. They will also gain some experience in periocular and orbital tumours via MDT. This Fellowship is a rare opportunity to train as an ocular oncologist. It is an exciting opportunity to work with three highly specialised ocular oncologists. The post holder will be working at the internationally reputed Sheffield Ocular Oncology Service and Department of Ophthalmology, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, part of the Sheffield Teaching at Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will provide intermediate grade support to the Consultant Ophthalmologists appropriate to his/her level of experience. The appointee would also be expected to play a full part in the clinical and basic science research, clinical, teaching and governance activities of the department. Appointments are made to the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the person appointed is required to be sufficiently flexible to undertake their main clinical duties at any of the sites within the Trust and/or to change their base hospital. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria • Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise at point of application • Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (or equivalent) Desirable criteria • BSc, MSc/MD or other visual science qualification • Distinctions, Prizes, awards or scholarships. Clinical Experience Essential criteria • ST5-ST7 Level or equivalent experience • Completion (or within 24 months of completion) of training in Ophthalmology Desirable criteria • Previous exposure to MDT approach to cases • Previous exposure to or awareness of ocular oncology procedures • Ability to work out of hours if required • Ability to run independent general clinics if required Research Essential criteria • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate Desirable criteria • Publications in Peer reviewed journals • Poster or Oral Presentation in Ocular Oncology at national/ international meeting such as RCOphth/ BOPSS/ AAO/ ISOO Teaching and Training • Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors • Experience in supervising ophthalmology trainees in minor procedures Continuous Professional Development Essential criteria • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months Desirable criteria • Maintenance of a CPD dairy or portfolio Perosnal Attributes • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values • The applicant must demonstrate skills listening, reading, writing and speaking English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC good medical practice (2013) Management and Administration • Ability to organise MDT and lead support team
