One of our lovely Redbridge-based Secondary schools are looking to draft a Speech & Language Assistant who can play a key role in the academic development and in-school engagement of some of their students - sound good? As a Speech & Language Assistant, you will: Develop and prepare visual materials for therapy and classroom sessions Keep written records of pupil observations Carrying out general Teaching Assistant responsibilities in amongst your Speech and Language role Work under supervision of the school SENCo and various Class Teachers Provide effective support to less experienced colleagues, modelling good practice This Speech & Language Assistant role will include extensive in house and external training, designed to further develop your SL profile, and there will be support and supervision from the Speech and Language Therapy Department. The pupils in question are in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 and make steady academic progress, but the schools new Speech & Language Assistant will be charged with engaging these students 1:1, helping them break down learning and manage their SL difficulties to help them progress at a faster rate, along with developing their social skills.
