An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, innovative, and motivated Children's Registered Nurse to join Staffordshire Children's Hospital at the Royal Stoke Hospital as a band 7 Children's Epilepsy Nurse Specialist.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with specialist epilepsy knowledge and experience. You will be fully supported to develop existing and new skills working within a framework of competence. You will join a team of paediatric consultants who have an interest in epilepsy. We have strong links with Manchester Children's Hospital and host a monthly clinic with a visiting Consultant Paediatrician.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in the Child Health Directorate with clinicians to provide a highly developed and effective service for children and young people with epilepsy. The post holder will be required to exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy, making critical judgements and decisions to meet the expectations and demands of this role. The post holder will work effectively and efficiently with children, parents/carers, and a variety of multidisciplinary teams including those in primary, secondary, and tertiary care settings to coordinate, plan, deliver, and manage the healthcare needs of patients.
The post holder will act as a recognised expert in the field of epilepsy nursing and provide professional leadership in all areas of practice, supporting colleagues to promote excellence in care. The post holder will develop and deliver innovative and evidence-based practice through professional leadership supporting the clinical team to develop the specialist area of care. The post holder will contribute to the management of a quality and cost-effective service, planning, implementing, and evaluating new and existing policies in children's epilepsy and service delivery in line with local and national guidance. The post holder will have a role in the undertaking and coordination of evidence-based audits (i.e. Epilepsy12) and research projects to ensure best practice and aid service development.

* Current children's nursing registration: RSCN/ Project 2000 /RN-Child
* Degree level nursing/health-related studies

* Minimum of 10 years post-registration experience - including at least 5 years' experience providing Epilepsy care
